Lake Orange, Inc.

Following incorporation, Lake Orange, Inc., signed easements with the original owners of the land used to create Lake Orange and then signed additional easements with certain home owners' associations. Easements typically grant ingress, egress, and regress to LOI property within the 615'-620' elevations. Such easements allow private property owners to access property they own by following established paths that may cross over or through LOI property.
Note that North Carolina law defines easements of ingress, egress, and regress very specifically as limited rights of use, not rights of ownership. Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the easement, holders of an easement may generally use that easement only in such a way as is reasonably necessary to travel between their property and public rights of way. These easements are also generally conveyed to the heirs and assigns of the original owners, meaning owners of property that once belonged to the original easement holder can usually claim access to the easement.
